I want to learn solid works 2014. Is the book solidworks 2013 bible by matt lombard a good idea ? because its 2013 and i will be learning 2014.
The 2013 book should be sufficient to learn the major aspects of the program. There are going to be features in the 2014 version of the program that won't be covered. For help learning those, click the Help menu and check out the what's new documents provided. There are also examples that can be found through the Help menu and/or tutorials.
You could also try finding the 2014 SW Bible. I am pretty sure Matt Lombard does a new one after every major release.
Matt no longer writes the SolidWorks Bible as he now works for Siemens. I believe the 2013 bible was the last one he did.
Also, the Bible is less a training guide and more to be used as a resource. The target audience for the Bible series was intermediate to advanced users. Your best bet is to use the built-in tutorials to get the basics down, then turn to YouTube, my.solidworks.com or a video training site like SolidProfessor.
