Re: command manager is gone in drawing
Mike Helsinger Feb 25, 2015 5:27 PM (in response to Nicholas Bachus)Looked kinda scary at first but I got it. Your tabs have all been removed. When I right click on any tab (View Layout, Annotation,...) I get a selection menu to include / exclude these and other tabs. Uncheck all and you have none left to display and it looks like your screen cap.
To get your commands back, start with a right click anywhere in your big blank area where your tools should be. You'll get a long menu, down at the bottom choose "Customize..." (sorry it won't allow me to take screen caps of these steps, the menus disappear when I try)
You get a menu that looks like this
Now notice that when you have this window open you see your tabs where they should appear, but they are ghosted out.
While this window is open, point your mouse past the active window and start right clicking on these tabs and select Show Tab for each tab you want to display. That should fix it.

Re: command manager is gone in drawing
Nicholas Bachus Feb 25, 2015 6:00 PM (in response to Mike Helsinger)Is there any way I can just reset it to the default setting. I tried using the "reset to default" button at the bottom of the customize toolbar tab and it did not work.
Thanks

Re: command manager is gone in drawing
Mike Helsinger Feb 25, 2015 6:06 PM (in response to Nicholas Bachus)You can try, I've learned a lot about this program from exploring ideas like that. Even if you don't fix what you're working on now, you may figure out something else that's useful to you.

Re: command manager is gone in drawing
Nicholas Bachus Feb 25, 2015 7:07 PM (in response to Mike Helsinger)I'm not trying to customize the command manager, I am just trying to get it back to the way it was when I first downloaded solidworks. I have no idea why it changed, but I just want the original setup back. Is there some kind of a reset?

Re: command manager is gone in drawing
Mike Helsinger Feb 26, 2015 10:34 AM (in response to Nicholas Bachus)If the resets that Venkatesh suggested don't fix it I believe you will get this accomplished by the method I outlined. I figured out how to display the missing steps in a screen cap so I'll give you the thorough run through:
Then proceed past the menu window (as I mentioned above)
If these steps do not return the tools you need, you will want to contact your solidworks VAR.

Re: command manager is gone in drawing
Mike Helsinger Feb 26, 2015 12:32 PM (in response to Nicholas Bachus)I am afraid I am out of help for you at the moment.
Try your SolidWorks VAR for assistance.

Re: command manager is gone in drawing
Mike Helsinger Feb 26, 2015 1:55 PM (in response to Kelvin Lamport)I attempted this and got no response from (L or R)MB in the tab area once all tabs were removed. I'm also still running 2014.

Re: command manager is gone in drawing
Kelvin Lamport Feb 26, 2015 9:33 PM (in response to Mike Helsinger)Hmm! Strange. When I tried that at work this morning, it worked just fine, but I just tried again at home and it doesn't. Now I'm in the same situation as you ... except I don't use the CM, so no loss for me.

Re: command manager is gone in drawing
Kelvin Lamport Feb 26, 2015 10:25 PM (in response to Kelvin Lamport)Are you familiar with the Windows Registry?
Close SolidWorks
Click Windows Start button
Select Run (this will open a new window)
In that window, type regedit & hit OK (this will open a new window)
Drill down to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SolidWorks\SolidWorks 2014\User Interface
Delete the CommandManager key
Close the registry
Restart SolidWorks and the CM registry key will be re-created per the default install
When you get things back the way you want, run the SolidWorks Copy Settings Wizard to save all the registry settings, then if or when things get screwed up again, simply run the Copy Settings Wizard to reinstate the good working registry settings.

Re: command manager is gone in drawing
Nicholas Bachus Feb 27, 2015 2:15 AM (in response to Kelvin Lamport)Sorry but I'm not familiar with the windows registry and I cant seem to follow your steps. And Uninstalled solidworks completely and then reinstalled it, and it still comes up with all the missing tabs in the command manager.

Re: command manager is gone in drawing
Kelvin Lamport Feb 27, 2015 8:52 AM (in response to Nicholas Bachus)... And Uninstalled solidworks completely and then reinstalled it, and it still comes up with all the missing tabs in the command manager.
If a re-install didn't fix the problem, then you either didn't fully uninstall SW complete with all registry settings, or you have corrupt installation files. I'm guessing the former.
Sorry but I'm not familiar with the windows registry and I cant seem to follow your steps.
I cannot fathom how you could not follow the steps. I don't believe I can make them easier to understand.
As a last resort use the attached reg file to overwrite the registry settings. All you need do is download the file, and then double click it.
And if that doesn't work follow the steps listed at How to ensure a clean uninstall and update of SolidWorks to do a proper uninstall & reinstall.

Re: command manager is gone in drawing
Unspecified Unspecified Jul 13, 2015 6:07 AM (in response to Nicholas Bachus)I just had a crash and when I restarted SW, the command manager was gone, a few weeks ago, I also had a crash and after that I missed the option to replace missing files when opening a drawing. I contacted my VAR and they also had some sort of reset option for SW, I really don't like this kind of solutions, it's really annoying.
