I have been experiencing this exact same thing randomly!!
Also solidworks generating a crash report when it has been closed down.
I havent been experiencing the crashing when I close down in SW2015, but it happened all the time when I used SW2014.
I have the same issue. Upgraded to SW2015 SP 1.1 yesterday on WIN 7 x64.

The issue seems to be prevalent when I am saving drawings. Not as much during parts.
Anybody else seen this issue?
happens when saving parts, drawings and assemblies. 2015 sp1.1, win7 64
We have 3 users with the same problem and we are on SW2015 SP2.0, Windows explorer crashes about 3 times a day. It happens when just hovering the mouse over the files, opening them, saving and all sorts of random actions, I think this is linked to the problem of the windows explorer previews not working properly with SW files.
Have you tried to turn off the previews in windows explorer? Did that fix the issue?
SP2-Full (the final and "full" release of SP2) was made available on Feb 19th. If you were running 2015 SP2 before that date it would be the "Early Visibility" version of SP2 which was made available in late January. Thanks to everyone's input here and from a few other sources, this issue was escalated and we felt it was important enough to put into the SP2-FULL version.
Please try the official 2015 SP2 version which is now available and let us know if you continue to see this issue.
Thanks again for everyone's input,
I've just updated from 2015 SP1.1 to 2.0 and still have the Windows Explorer bug! I'm still using SW2014 mainly though, so perhaps when I switch to only using 2015 the problem may not appear.
Anyone got similar experience?
I contacted my reseller and they gave a workaround solution until SP2 is released. Open windows explorer, go to the drop down located in the upper left corner of your screen labeled "organize", pull it down and select "layout". There you will have the option to turn off the "details pane" and the "preview pane". Once you turn both of those off, then shutdown and restart SW2015. This should take care of the crashing issues with using windows explorer in conjunction with SW 2015 until the full release of SP2. Hope this helps.
Thank you everybody. I will get right on it.
