Is there a difference between receiving a drawing generated in Solidworks Professional and making to the drawing in Solidworks standard? when I try to add dimensions they are very light can not see them.
What Layer are your dimensions in? I doubt if it has anything to do with the model being generated with Professional, though I'm not sure.
Also, make sure that the Color Display Mode button isn't depressed on the Line Format toolbar, though I doubt that's it.

That's about it. Though, once you get your layer settings straightned out, you may have to go back and highlight all the existing dimensions and set them to the correct layer.
It doesn't matter which version of SolidWorks the files were generated in. I'd say it has everything to do with your drawing template.
This has EVERYTHING to do with the Document Properties (i.e. template).
Most likely it has to do with colors and print settings.
Layers can help but normally documents don't have layers setup by default.
When you say they are "light" is that on screen or during printing?
