Has anyone installed and used 2015? What's the scuttlebutt? Is it significantly better than 2014 SP4? Does it fix problems? Easier to use? Or should we run away screaming?
SW15 is still at Pre-Release stage so I would wait until at least the official SP0 is released.
As usual SP0 will have fixed some bugs and possibly created new ones. What works for one person may not work for someone else. Best way is to install on a separate PC and use only copies of your solid data to run tests.
seems pretty solid to me. personally I think getting on 0.0 is the best for most customers or at least start testing on sp0.0 because if you run into issues, this is the soonest you can start getting something fixed. if you wait your chances of getting something fixed are lower. but that predicates there being issues in the software. i'd say over the last few years, whether new or old features, they are coming out of beta pretty solid.
I've converted a few jobs to 2015 - and so far I've seen no major problems. That said there are a few minor issues that can be quite frustrating until you figure out a work-around. Most notably, I've found problems opening large drawing files, especially if there is an outdated reference. My guess is that its a memory management issue - as I can see the memory allocations gradually increasing without letup. My work-around was to initially open the file with only one sheet active. In any case its best to wait until SP0 before you put any critical data in 2015.
you may want to look at converting the files first
it could just be conversion taking up extra memory
ive always installed and used right away from beta to sp5. never have any issues.
I have installed and used sw2015 sp0. I have an issue. Sw2015 will be dead for at least 10s when I edit a dimension. It's such a waste time that i have reused sw2012
Sounds like a graphics driver, computer or install issue. Working without issue on my end.
SOLIDWORKS has released SOLIDWORKS 2015 SP0, but we recommend NOT using it because of a bug that Logopress discovered that could affect all SOLIDWORKS users and not just those that use Logopress3. SOLIDWORKS has now created an SPR for this bug and has said it should be fixed in SOLIDWORKS 2015 SP1. It is SPR 824863 "Automatic coincidence relations for points added to a sketch are inferred only for the first point"
From my Add-in VAR.
I noticed that had been fixed... I had thought it a new feature!
2015 service pack 2.1 is VERY buggy on larger assemblies. Five people in my group are all livid with the amount of lockups, slowdown, parts not highlighting when clicked on, etc. Don't leave the much more stable 2014 unless you have to. I am so tired of Dissault using us to test an obviously bug ridden versions.
have you talked to your var on this? i don't think we're seeing that here with our customers
