When I try to place a dimension on a drawing it has been asking me if I want to keep it as a driven dimesnion, WHY?
There is a two basic types of dimension - driving and driven. If you modify driving dimension you change model. If you use dimensions from part (sketch) to drawing (Insert -Model Items), they are driving dimensions and are fully associated with model (you can change model by click dimension and edit it in drawing). Other dimesions manually added to drawing are driven (you can not change the model by edit this dimension) and this dimension over define the model - sketch can not be solved..
it keeps asking you because you have not checked the box "don't ask again"
I saw that, but I do not know why it is even appearing?
These parts were modeled by temporarary person and I was not sure if that had something to do with it.
Normally when I create the original model I don't encounter this issue.
the details of why a particular dimension would create an over-defined or unsolvable state cannot be determined without at least an image of the sketch, and most likely the files to examine.
It is driven by another dimension, relation or feature, if you make it driving it will create an over defining situation.
