has anyone seen the image below, how do i solve it? please help
Change your Solver under Simulation Properties to either FFEPlus or Automatic. If you have enough DOF, your Direct Sparse can run out of memory and shoot that error. SW help recommends using Iterative (FFEPlus) for anything over 100,000 DOF, but larger memory computers can run larger models without issue.
If you model necessetates Direct Solver, and you have SW2014, you can use the Large Problem Direct Sparse. Since the error pop-up didn't suggest switching to that solver though, I'm assuming your using 2013 or earlier.
Ok, I will change to the FFEPlus and start the simulation again. Thank you for your promt suggestion...
there is a caveat here
what version/service pack are you using
how much ram
and how many DOF is your problem
in an early sp of 2013, if you had less than 16gb of ram and over 1million dof, you would get this error and then switch to fffe plus and get an error about ffe plus
but if you don't fit that category, justin's suggestions will solve your issue. always go with auto, let it select properly for you.
We are using SW12 SP5, and have 24GB ram....
i was able to change the jacobian setting from 16 to 4 and reduced the mesh qulity, the simulation completed successfully (it took a long time).
thank you for your help...
in the end, that is always the best solution. build a model that will solve in a reasonable way.
