For some reason I cannot view a part from 2014sp3 in 2013sp5. The part seems to load but I can't see it. I checked video drivers and I beleive they are correct.Anyone having the same problem?
I do not believe it is backwards compatible. You would have to save as a .stp or .igs to view. I could be wrong though.
For the last release or two, if you're using sp 5, you're supposed to be able to open, and use in assemblies, parts created in the next version up.
Robert, sp5 is supposed to be able to open files from the next version.
Cam, we don't work accross versions, so I have no experience with this (good or bad). but maybe ask for that step or parasolid, might offer some clue as to what is going on.
since 2012sp5 this is possible from sp5 to view one release forward, just very limited functionality.
Did not know. Have no clue then. Good luck.
Is there a setting I'm missing?
Have you tried right-clicking on the body or bodies in the tree and choosing "Show" (or "Hide" and then back to "Show")?
Maybe a Ctrl+Q rebuild?
Still doesn't work
It may be because of your part template
Please see this discussion
Hope this helps
I tried it and it still dosen't work. Tried every location I could find thanks anyway
Are you able to post the file here, someone could check on their machines?
I did some experiment on this and noticed that the default template and custom template makes the difference.
If you have the default templates in the folder>ProgramData\SolidWorks\SolidWorks 2013\templates, make this your file location and then open your 2014 part file in 2013 and see if it works
I think I have tried everything, still no luck. Has anyone else tried opening a 2014 sp3 file in 2013 sp5?
If you have any sample part file made in SW2014 SP3, then post here.
Ok this is just a block made in 2014 sp3
It's working fine here
Thank you John
I don't know what I am doing wrong but I will keep trying
