Re: Howto evaluate stress over a plane or section?
F. R Feb 19, 2014 2:54 PM (in response to Shaun Densberger)Hej Shaun,
thank you. What you have described works quite well. Do you know a other way to achieve such results without defining several solids, because to define all component contact conditions takes quite some time?
Best regards

Re: Howto evaluate stress over a plane or section?
Shaun Densberger Feb 19, 2014 3:06 PM (in response to F. R)I'm not entirely clear on what you're asking for; are you asking if you can divide a solid body up into multiple bodies instead of create multiple parts and putting them in an assembly?

Re: Howto evaluate stress over a plane or section?
F. R Feb 20, 2014 11:27 AM (in response to Shaun Densberger)No. I wanted to know, if there is a way to research stresses on lines in my assembly more effect?
And if not how would you do it with split lines tool if you have to evaluate multiple planes in a part of a assembly (like the blue lines in the image below)? [subquestions: Do you make a sketch for each line? How do define the contact conditions for the part in the assembly...]
I hope my intentions with the earlier question is now better to understand.

Re: Howto evaluate stress over a plane or section?
Jared Conway Feb 20, 2014 11:31 AM (in response to F. R)lines is the exact same thing as faces
break the body into multiple bodies so there are body edges or use split lines
contact just apply the same way, bonded. you're just breaking the model up to make it possible to measure on specific things.

Re: Howto evaluate stress over a plane or section?
Jared Conway Feb 17, 2014 11:40 PM (in response to F. R)What about a section view, use prove to grab a decent sample of points and then do the average yourself or use there data in the dialog.
If you want more exact, you need to define the break so that it can be selected.

Re: Howto evaluate stress over a plane or section?
F. R Feb 19, 2014 2:57 PM (in response to Jared Conway)Hej Jared,
What are breaks and how will that leed me to evaluation of shear stress in a plane?
I am looking for a more precise and automatic approach to get shear stress values in a plane, because those informations should be used for a dseign evaluation.
Thank you

Re: Howto evaluate stress over a plane or section?
Jared Conway Feb 19, 2014 3:06 PM (in response to F. R)break = cut the model using one of the tools in solidworks like split
