Anyone working with 2014 yet?
What's your thoughts
Usually wait for SP1.0
I have been using it for a while now and have not had any major non-user created errors. It works well for me I have doen some flow simulation and plasitcs studies. As far as modeling it is working well I am enjoying some of the new assembly tools in some of the work i have done recently. If there are any bugs I just havent come across them yet.
We usually wait for SP3.0, as using a new release before then causes us all sorts of problems.
And we ain't got time to fix them.
Have used for any production work yet but so far SW2014 Sp 0 is keeping me cool specially with the new enhancements.
I thought I would bring this forward for more comments. 2014 has been out for awhile and I hope there might be more opinions. Also, any news for SP 1? Early visibility has been out since Nov 13.
Generally SPs are out after 3-4 weeks from EVs release date but can change.
The schedule on the Download page is showing November so may be by th end of this week.
It should be live very soon - stay tuned.
Thank-you. My company is going to upgrade Monday December 2 and I did not want to have to ask IT come back around and upgrade to SP 1 just a day or two after installing 2014. I also appreciate the efforts of all the folks who use earlier versions from Beta onward.
2014 SP1 is available for downloading.
Thanks for the info!
Has anyone successfully downloaded the 64-bit "SolidWorksSetup.exe"? I've attempted to download it from 3 different computers with various problems. When I do get the download to go through all the red flags that IE or Chrome are throwing out I only get 13,918 KB of what should be ~28,000 KB. When I start the exe it Windows says it isn't a valid Win-32 application.
Looks like there might be too many download and that might have caused the failure on you.
Download is very slow for full SP1 version. Must be lots of people downloading.
From home I can usually download a full version in less than two hours. Today has taken over 6 hours ... and still almost a GB to go.
I always jump on the SP0 bandwagon. I have seen that SP0 is usually the most stable. If/when I do find bugs my efforts will help the people that wait till SP 3 to upgrade. Come to think of it if nobdy used solidworks until SP 3 or 4 then there would not be as many enhancements maybe fewer service packs.
I value the effort that people put in to using SP.0.0 and taking the time to find the bugs and issues, these people are to be thanked.
If I had the time to allow for system crashes, hangs, bugs and incompatibility, I too would install and use SP0.0.
I tested SW2014 SP1 and found many problems with fonts in the UI
on high resolution monitors.
The most used fonts are far too small, some are huge,
extreme vertical font distances, corrupt menus,
corrupt RMB mouse button menus, problems with Windows scaling etc.
Some of these problems did already exist in SW2013 but it definitely
got worse in SW2014.
In this link you can find all the problems that I have found with UI fonts
There is also a problem with selecting dimensions while
setting flat to screen option, this often doesn't work.
It has been reproduced by my VAR.
Well, here we go
Installed & testing 2014
Some very good stuff added BUT!!!!!!!!!!
Model seems to hangs up & stalls when rotating & zooming with dynamic highlight activated
It appears that this year SP1 is a bit of a beta release.
Some easy to catch problems didn't get fixed in the final release.
2014? Yes. Been using it for a month or two now. Why? It has too many new useful features to delay...specifically...
Multiple exploded views per configuration and rotate explosions
Save as .LXO ( for Modo)
