i want to know which solver (PCG,AMG,ITER) is best for nonlinear/static problem.. I would appreciate if i can get any idea about it
have you checked the solidworks KB? it has a couple of good docs on choosing a solver.
one of the easiest is to go with direct sparse for problems with contact. it is just better equiped.
but overall, either solver will handle most problems in the same way. some can handle slightly larger problems. but from an accuracy perspective they are the same.
you might want to explain what your criteria is for a solver to help better decide which one to use.
Thank you for your reply.
Actually my problem is related to bolted flange joints. I used direct sparse solver and it tooks lot of time almost three days to solve it. I then used PCG and it solved my problem in 4-5 hours. but i am not sure that whether i can use this for my nonlinear problem or not.
really hard to tell, need more details. but i've been pretty successful with nonlinear and linear with bolts. contact is involved so it takes time to solve but that is part of the game when it comes to contact.
for nonlinear we have got new solver added in solidworks 2014. check it out..:)
