I am using Solidworks standard 2013, and I would like add some feature about revision control. Can I make the feature with VBA or VB.net with Solidworks standard 2013?
No doubt you could accomplish this using the SolidWorks and Microsoft Excel API. Are you hoping that someone will write this for you or were you hoping to learn the APIs of these programs in order to write the macro yourself? If you want to begin learning the SolidWorks API then I recommend you check out the free videos at our web site (see link below).

Welcome to SolidWorks forums Jerry.
I'm sure that you can do that with standard version too. BTW what kind of feature you looking to develop.

Thank you very much for the quick reply.
The feature I will develop is a menu item or button added to current Solidworks, which can update the revision information of drawings in a Excel file.
Do you have any suggestions or guide for it?
Not yet but I'm trying to do similar thing for Krzysztof over hre: https://forum.solidworks.com/message/362771#362771
Thank you for the information. I'll try to make it myself.
I went a different route for my company (I don't like excel to store info)
my company has a vaulted folder and a Pending folder
if a part/drawing need to be updated or added to the vault the file is saved and in the pending folder
then when it ready to be vaulted they run it through a program I wrote to
first check the revision to make sure that it the next so if Rev A is in the Vault it will warn the users if it's not Rev B that is being moved
the revision are stored in the custom properties I also fix the reference to the parts to point to the Vault so there no issue of old revision being loaded
I used the SwDocumentAPI to do this
I should say if possible use a database not excel you can also update the save/save as event in SolidWorks and check if the file in a certain folder then you can write to a database or excel file or wherever you store the date and it will auto increases the rev by one
or you can create a button that call this to update the data
If useing excel I would make sure the it is Read-only but for your program other wise if your program an and someone had it opened it will not be able to save the excel file
Thank you for the answer. Yes, I have thought the problem of "Read-only", while Excel is needed for other case, and I would find solution for this problem.
