Back to clean install
Left DVD at work, so trying to download the full deal. I think trying to do this crap on weekends is a waste because tech support is ?
I think the download manager/ website is messed up, downloads a little then starts over agian. I quit. Wait till Monday I guess.
I'm sorry you're having so much trouble. I've never had a problem downloading and installing updates. Is it just barely possible that the problem is on your end? Do you have your anti-virus software turned off? I know that having that on can cause problems.
Thanks Glenn, I turned that stuff off with no luck. I'm pretty sure it's a SP2 thing because I had similar issues with my work PC. Anyway, I'm taking home the install DVD tonight after work and give that a shot. The full download of the DVD failed as well. At least with the DVD I will know if it will work or if I have to start with a complete clean install of OS and software. Thing that pisses me off is that I installed a separate drive and have just SW installed on it for this reason alone. If they truly made a quality product that would really uninstall before you ungrade to the latest version this would not be neccessary. After 7 yrs of work with it, this seems to be an ongoing issue with this company. Shame on them for not making the process alot simpler. Well, I'm tired of ranting about this. We'll see if the DVD in in any better shape than the download method.
have you tried to download the files and not use the install from the web?
there are manual file downloads you can use just have to pick the ones you need.
pic from the download page: at bottom if install manager assited ...FAIL!
Click here for instructions if your browser security settings are blocking this download.
Step 3Follow the step-by-step instructions in the SolidWorks Installation Manager for Individual Installations, Administrative Images, or Installation Manager Assisted Manual Downloads.
If you experience problems due to Internet proxy, other connection issues or policies, it is strongly recommendedthat you use Installation Manager Assisted Manual Downloads to ensure that all prerequisites are installed and all errors are logged for technical support.

Yeah I tried this as well, it would get to 32% then jump back down to 0%. That's where the bulk of my frustation came from. I was like "I can't even download the stuff manually!" At this point I figured that their servers were all screwed up or something and threw my hands up and said forget I'll get the DVD on Monday. Question is will it work tonight when I try to do it all over again? Are you listening SW?
I'm on there right now and all is downloading fine, must be on your end ISP may have timed out as it does take awhile to download.
could be firewall problems on your PC's.
I have been downloading from SW since 97 and in all that time have had maybe a handful of issues...hell SW1999 had 14 sp's that release and I think I was on a modem.
Good to hear that your connecting without issues. I looked at the firewall and any other programs that may have interfered but didn't come across anything. I even reset my power setting to make sure my PC stayed active with no powerdown on it. Tell you sometimes it makes you wonder. Anyway, thanks for the input.
Chances are likely that if you are having download interruptions, it is somewhere between your computer and SolidWorks servers, not the SolidWorks servers themselves.
DSL modems are notorious for these types of problems.
Thanks for the input Charles. I'm running via a 30 Meg connection via the cable company so I'm pretty sure I'm good there. SP2 went off without a hitch so I guess tonight I'll try with the DVD. I know it will launch the updater, but just in case I'm missing something it will have the DVD to look at as well. Thanks again - let you know how it goes.
Got yelled at so this is my last post on this.
