I imported a STL file and have a part file now. I tried to create a drawing and the view is empty. I created several views and they were all empty. Any ideas?
You need to convert that STL file into a solid/surface body in order to get the views.
If you've SW premium, then you can use ScanTo3D else try MeshLab (more details here), which is open source software available here:http://meshlab.sourceforge.net/
I converted the STL to a .sldprt. It is a solid body. That is where I was and tried to make a drawing from the part and all I got were views that I could not see anything.
Can you post the stl and the converted sldprt file to see what you are working with? Or a screenshot of SolidWorks including the feature tree.
A STL file is just a graphics file with no solid/surface geometry. You can view it but cannot anything much with it. You need to convert it to solid/surface body for doing what you need.
