Converyor Belt For Chocolate.

Hi everyone,

I am drawing a chocolate enrober from wich the conveyor belt is built out of metal wire parts.

I can't get a clue of how I can draw and assemble this conveyor belt.

I'm new to solidworks and I can't find the right information on the internet.

I want this belt to move like it does in real life, when I rotate the axels the belt has to move and when I move the belt, than the axels also have to rotate.

I have learned how t draw a simple conveyor belt with the bels/chain tool and I know how to do a path mate.

Does anyone have a clue of how to do this simple?

Correct Answer

Toon,

SolidWorks is usually considered to be a mid-level CAD program, not high-end. High-end means Catia, NX or some of their brethren. No matter where you think it belongs in the spectrum, SolidWorks doesn't handle the chain problem well.

this is going to be like modeling a chain that moves. search the forum for chain(s). I think you will see that this is NOT simple.

have you checked out this video on path mating a chain? very similar to what you're looking to do, it's a pretty good primer on how to mate chains to gears

Thx for the answers, I have figured out that I can use the cammatetangent to constrain the part around the path.

Is it possible to constrain 1 part of the "chain" and copy the rest of them around the path?

Maybe its possible to do this with feature driven component pattern but when I use that, will it still be possible to have motion around the path and do a gearmate between my "chain" and the "chainwheels"?
