What a perfect list! Now that it's been hinted that vertical padding in tables might be fixed, these are all the main things that drive me crazy.
I do wish the extension line gap could be a defined distance from the figure, instead of a defined distance from the edge being dimensioned. So, if you set the gap option for 1.5 mm, you' d get the gaps shown in the attached image.
Here is one more. I know it's small but you did ask for little things and this has a source of annoyance for me since I started using SolidWorks (SW2009). When dimensioning in a drawing, if I RMB on a line and select "Choose midpoint" from the drop-down, then move to the next entity it won't highlight. And I know I could select the other entity first but that doesn't help if I need the midpoint on both. Please fix this.
Along with the normal Bugs / SPR's that are a major impact.
This one is just annoying.
Why do I have to choose "High Quality" when I print if I want shaded views to look good. Why would I ever want to print "low qualtity"???
Choose "page setup" from the box below and you will see the second dialogue box
How about when we mirror hole wizard features if the drawing hole callout tool would be able to collect the quantities of the mirrored holes automatically. Currently only the original holes are included in the hole count and you either have to override the count or add an additional callout.
It would also be nice if mirrored hole wizard features either within a part or in a mirror part would be eligible for selection in a feature driven pattern (say for inserting bolts and washers).
I'd like it if mate errors would be suspeded when replacing references. maybe just a color code / text on the properties window to show if it's good or bad until you're done swapping out mate references. All those error pop-ups drive me nuts whenever I do that to the point that I tend to suspend update, but that deprives me of feedback that I've actually picked the right things and have the right alignment.
How about being able to have trim commands -power trim and corner trim- as seperate items
you can customize on your SKey. I know the trim command is on the Rmouse and it opens
up the trim commands in thePM.
Yes, I agree with this one, Dwight...
Another pet peeve of mine is the Centerline extension value of Center marks - this should really be a value we control for the drawing sheet, irrespective of the actual size of the feature, or drawing scale. A feature that is 3000mm in diameter on the same sheet as as a 50mm feature should both show the same Center Mark extension (again, irrespective of relative scales). Perhaps this can be best achieved with an option for a % value rather than a set amount...
And another one - it would be great to be able to specify the units' precision for Length in Weldment Cutting Lists, separate to the document's overall units precision.
Have the FM "transparent" flyout respect the Isolate function, and the Filter Hidden/Suppressed Components option of the main FM.
Make the Filter Hidden/Suppressed Components option of the main FM, be the default option, or at least be "sticky" between sessions.
Drawings, Zoom to fit....................Zoom to fit the sheet, not the imaginary lines (bounding box?) around the "Drawing View". Why cant we resize those boxes anymore too?
That is so annoying. I thought it was just me because I don't really know the software yet and was doing something wrong.
I like the tile right & tile left tabs in 2012 - but would like it if they would open to the full size of the monitors.
How about parts behind phantom parts get a solid lines instead of hidden lines?
If a part is phantom it's usually for reference to give the person reading the drawing an idea of what's in the area. This should not mask the primary parts that happen to be behind the phantom part.
Or at least give us the ability to position 2 views directly over one another. This way I can have phantom parts on one view and real parts on the other view.
One way to currently put one over the other is Alternate Position View. We use it to show a lift in the down & up position, carrier arms closed & open, etc, one in solid lines, the other in phantom lines.
Another thing I would like to see is a ( Phantom Feature ) Were I could revolve or extrude over a part - but still see the part inside of my new shape.
Like if I wanted to build stock around a finished model.
I do this now with assemblies - but it would be nice to see this inside the part model.
