How do update a configured part file via assembly without opening or editing part

-I have a 2 configuration assembly. It has configured parts. It also has a drawing with views of the assembly and views of the parts.

-Views are set to display last saved config.

When i change the assembly config this changes part configs.

Problem: While the assembly displays correctly in the drawing, the part view does not update unless, from the assembly i open or edit part. Is there a way (macro?) any one knows of that will cause SW to update parts (same as opening and saving) through the assembly?

I dont want to have to change configs in drawing view.

No one else has this question

I don't know what you are trying to do, but I would never use the "display last saved configuration" mode. It just seems like an invitation to a disaster. It seems to me that an assembly with two configurations requires either two drawings or one drawing with multiple views, each showing the correct one of the configurations. Same for the parts.

Actually, I just thought of one use for the last saved configuration view. If you have dynamic assemblies and parts that are built only when needed and saved out as a project, but that doesn't seem like what you are doing and it seems easier to just use the default configuration anyway.

Joel,

So you have an assembly drawing that also contains detail views of the parts. User switches the referenced configuration of the assembly. You want to know if a macro can be created that will get the referenced configuration of the assembly and get the configuration of the parts and change the detail views of the parts to these configurations.

If that is the case, yes a macro can do this.

  What I am doing is this:
  I have an assembly sketch with parts created in context to the sketch. When the assembly sketch is modified, the parts follow accordingly.
  
  The assembly has 2 configs. The parts also have configs that change relative to assembly config chosen.
  
  I have seperate premade finished drawings of the assembly and of the individual parts.
  
  All adjustments are made to the assembly and saved (this is were the hicup is, see below)
  
  Then the drawings are open and they display the assembly and parts as adjusted (hence the "display last saved configuration")
  This is where i run into the issue. The parts only display the proper config in the drawing view if they are opened or edited and saved in the assembly prior to opening the drawing. See video. Its only 1:30.

    OK...my first macro works to accomplish the edit and save of the part i showed in the video. So now if i run the macro i dont have to edit part as shown in the video.
    
    I have to also edit the feature "lofted bend" in order for a cone thickness to update. If i create a macro to do this it does not work. Ive got a play with it of course however seeing macro is completely new to me...

      Rather than edit the feature just change the thickness dimension value. This could be done fairly easily in a macro. Just remember if you record a macro to do this, the units are in meters.
