Does anyone know if Solid Works is or will be available for the Mac?
Not currently supported and as far as I know no current plans to support it. Maybe one day.....
Not native. You can BootCamp your Mac, install a Windows partition, then install SolidWorks.
Will it ever be ported? In my opinion not for SolidWorks V1. We will likely need to wait until SolidWorks V6 is released to see how Dassault plans to deal with Mac's.
Not sure but folks are able to use SW on Mac. Check these threads:
If you want a decent Mac program for 3D modeling check out TurboCAD nowhere near the capabilities as solidworks, but not super hard to learn and has a lot of features.
Our next-generation software, which is currently in development, will include software for the Mac platform. There is no established timeline yet. The existing version of SolidWorks will remain a Windows-only product.
That's good news. I now have an excuse to get a i-Pad! (lol)
Any news on this subject in the past 9 months? Are there any Beta versions of solidworks for OSx available to try?
Not that I've heard about.
