I am just beginning to play around in surfaces. I have created a closed surface model (think closed box). I would like to convert it to a solid. How do I do that? Help is not much.
You can use knit surface command to make that solid.
Hope this Helps..
I tried the Knit surfaces command, but the Try To Make a Solid checkbox is grayed out and unavailable. Here is the surface model.
Can you post the file?
nevermind, I am on SW 2010
You can't have any open faces for 'Try to Form a Solid' to work. It will be greyed out until you have all of the faces selected.
In addition to what Michael said about making sure you have all of the faces selected, it won't try to form a solid if there are any gaps between faces. As others said, use Tools/Check to find the gaps and then figure out how to fix them.
Do not create a new knit surface. Edit the last existing knit surface and see if that is an option there (it should be).
Edit SurfaceKnit4 and use Try To Make a Solid in that option.
The above is a link to mulitple threads about your question (I just entered 'surface solid' in the search box).
Thoug I'm sure if you post your file, one of us can help.
What about going to tools>check, or tools>geometry analysis? I wonder if one of these functions will help you find the gaps (assuming there are gaps) in your model.
