I am experiencing an odd issue between different display styles when detailing a drawing of a swept body using merged faces.

Solidworks Professional 2020 SP5.0

I have a fairly simple formed wire created from a swept profile along a path. When the sweep feature does not have 'merge tangent faces' checked, it all appears fine.

When 'merge tangent faces' is checked, however, I get the following results
