I am trying to figure out how can I get along in an assembly without all the features available in a part.

Is there a reason why aren't all the part's features available in assembly?

There are cases in which the available features in assembly aren't good enough, like when dealing with surfaces etc.

A relevant example is when I have to engrave something on a non planar surface, see attached picture
