My company has asked us to no longer include schematics in our Bill of Material. Normally they would be a blank part file in our assembly and the description would be something like "Print of Schematic" and then we would want a hard copy of the schematic to be included in what we're sending to our customers. We liked it because this would allow us some treaceability to where these were being used.
