Is there a way to overcome flattening process which loses correct cut information?

I unfolded and converted the centre panel to sketch which shows the true cut required and re-folded.

When you go to flat pattern configuration is loses the spline and just goes corner to corner (I assume uses this method for a normal tight bend)
