I often need to export from SW to other animation rendering software. I was previously exporting as .wrl and it was ok. The trouble I found was that an 80MB SW file exports to 500MB .wrl. The resulting file is laggy and heavy. I was then clued-in to the fact that FBX can preserve the instances as they export, and the resulting file size is comparable to the original.
