Hey everyone
Im ready to start working remotely and have been given the freedom to spec in my laptop workstation to replace my current desktop rig. I was hoping to get some of this communities opinions on the latest laptop spec's as I have been out of this market for quite some time now. The laptop's sole purpose will be to run solidwork's like a champ.
Budget would be $3K - 4.5K range (obviously cheaper is better, i have to buy this myself not on companies dime)
Brand: Im currently torn between Dell or Lenovo (but for no particular reason)
CPU: was leaning towards the new 11th/10th gen i9 unless there is a better option geared for solidworks ?
GPU: New Quadro RTX A4000 ??? Would a RTX 3000 be suffice ? Is the new ampere series worth it ? I could definitely use some help degerming why to choose one GPU over another
Memory: 32gb, any reason to need more then this ?
Hard Drive: 1TB SSD
A little about what I model:
-90% of work is assemblies with around 500parts
- We do have some large assemblies (5000+ parts) that I will need to work in that have a few thousand parts
-I am responsible for all drafting as well
-I do a decent amount of rendering using photoview 360/Visualizer
-I don't do any simulation nor do I plan to in the future
Any help or opinions on the matter are greatly appreciated. Talk nerdy to me :D
