We're about to order some new CAD machines (probably Dell Precision 5560s) I seen that the cost premium for a Xeon machine has dropped a lot - for our config it'll only add £250 to the cost, which is down to the OS and ECC memory costs, not the CPU itself.

Does anyone have any experience of whether it makes a usable difference in terms of system stability for Solidworks use? Any downsides (other than cost) we should be aware of?
