I need some help organizing my display a little.

What is this area of tabs just above the tree called?

How do I hide the tabs in there that I don't need?

What is the benefit of duplicating the tree by dragging that little handle down?

I'm almost certain I have changed these tabs in the past but can't remember how I did it.
