What I want is really really simple. But I can't figure out how to do it in solidworks. Title says what I'm trying to do. For the side of the beam with the hinged roller, it should be able to rotate and it should be able to translated along the length of the beam as it deforms (thats the roller portion). Just a square beam by itself I don't see how to make the constraints work out. So what I did was silly - I made a cylinder body at the end of the beam which is rigid, that is rigidly connected to the beam end. I can apply a "fixed hinge" fixture to this. But then it wouldn't translate along the beam length as it deforms. If I use an advanced fixture where I just constrain any Y translation this will not allow it to rotate. What am I doing wrong? surely solidworks can do this?!?!
The second picture is almost what i want. The support on the left just isn't translating.
