I am having difficulty understanding the stress results of a static simulation using shell elements.

I understand shell elements calculate both membrane stresses and bending stresses. I also understand that I can select to show the top values and the bottom values. I also understand that the option "Render shell thickness in 3D" will simultaneously show the top stress on the top and the bottom
