Perhaps i'm going about this wron, but shouldn't I be able to flatten the solid body after converting it into a sheet metal part?

I'm making decorative bars (right side) for a glass door that go inside the frame (left side). I am trying to flatten the "bar" so I can put it into a drawing for reference later.
