Is it that time already?

Isn’t this normally in November or December?

What is happening this year?

What is SLUGME?

(For those of you that are new, SLUGME is “SOLIDWORKS Largest User Group Meeting Ever” – We’ve already done FIVE of these - Check out the SW_SLUGME channel on YouTube for some of the past events.)

Keep reading to find the answers to these questions and more . . .

Let’s start with the most important item, when is it?

August 21st & 22nd at 6pm

Why is it 3 months early?

Why is it two days?

What do you mean 6pm?

6pm where?

How do I join?

I’ll answer these questions with a little story . . .

Earlier this year, we received some good-natured ribbing about SLUGME 5 lasting so long.

We took this as a challenge to kick SLUGME 6 into overdrive.

The 3 Amigos (Todd Blacksher, Kameron Smith, and Eric Beatty) started talking, and found some inspiration in the movie “Ford vs. Ferrari.”

What if we were to hold a 24 hour User Group Meeting?

You know, like the 24 hours of LeMans?

Race teams have multiple drivers from all over the world.

What if we could get multiple presenters from all over the world?

We could have a different presentation every hour.

If we jumped to the next time zone after each presentation, then every presentation could start at the same time . . . 6pm local time!

No matter where you are located, there will be a presentation in your time zone at 6pm!

Since this is a worldwide event, the presentations will be in the local language when possible.

We shared our ideas with Dan Wagner.

He thought we were crazy, but he also thought it sounded like a LOT of fun.

To coincide with the 24 Hours of LeMans, we thought that we would start SLUGME 6 a few hours after they wave the green flag to start the race.

Just for fun, we are starting our event in Paris, just down the road from LeMans.

Shifting the date forward 3 months to line up with the race has been a bit of a challenge, but a lot of great people came together to organize 26+ hours of awesomeness.

I know you are saying “Wait a minute, weren’t you just saying 24 Hours?!?”

Yes, but it wouldn’t be a proper event without some festivities before and after the presentations, so join us for the Pre-race, and stick around for the Post-race.

The Pre-race will start at 5pm Paris time, and the first presentation will start at 6pm Paris time.

There are 6 “Keystone Presentations” in which our experts design a hypercar for LeMans – these presentations will happen roughly every four hours.

The remaining 18 presentations contain a little bit of everything related to SOLIDWORKS.

I will be posting the complete listing soon, but I can give you a small taste . . .

Designing for 3D Printing, Generating a Chain Drive, How to Flatten Anything, Complex Animations, and many more!

We will also have Tips & Tricks with SOLIDWORKS World Legend Phil Sluder, as well as a Magic Wheelchair reveal!

Everything will be happening on the SOLIDWORKS YouTube Channel, so you will be able to chat with the presenters, your friends, and make new friends from around the world!

Subscribe to the SOLIDWORKS YouTube channel now.

There will also be drawings for gift cards during each presentation.
