Hi,

The Issue

We have an issue with the Tab&Slot feature after doing a Pack&Go (renaming the files).
After the Pack&Go we tried to edit the "Tab and Slot-Tab1" feature, but getting the following error message:

Cannot edit this feature as paired slot feature is not found"

The same error message also ocurse when renaming the part with the slot within the Windows File Explorer. And seems to working fine when renaming the Part within SolidWorks itself.
The Tab&Slot feature created between two parts within a assembly.

We also have to put the Assembly in lightweight while doing a Pack&Go. Otherwise the external references are out-of-context/broken. So you also cant use the Pack&Go within the Windows File Explorer since you have to put the Assembly in lightweight first. And then preform the Pack&Go within SolidWorks itself.

Workaround

So I found the following Workaround to restore the Tab&Slot feature after the Pack&Go.

  1. Open Assembly within SolidWorks. (TEST_A_Assem1)
  2. Make sure the Assembly is set to lightwieght. Right click on the assembly in FeatureManager design tree; Set Resolved to Ligthweigth.
  3. Start up Pack&Go from SolidWorks top menu:
File > Pack and Go ...
  4. Do what you always do when using the Pack&Go application.
I for example changed TEST_A_Part1 to TEST_B_Part1 and so on. Make sure to change the save folder. Press Save to perform the Pack&Go.
  5. Shutdown SolidWorks after the Pack&Go
  6. Open the Pack&Go Assembly. (TEST_B_Assem1)
  7. Now we are going the rename the part that has the slot feature in it to its original file name. Right click on the part within the FeatureManager design tree and click Rename Part.
I for example changed TEST_B_Part1 back to TEST_A_Part1 and pressed Enter on the keyboard.

You may get a popup as showed below. Click on Termporarily rename document.
  8. You may get a popup as showed below to rebuild the Assembly. Click Yes. If not, Make sure to rebuild your Assembly.

(The Tab&Slot feature should work again by now)

  9. After the rebuild you want to Save the Assembly and click on OK on the following popup you may get.
  10. Now rename you part back to how you want it be repeating step 6-8.

Your Assembly should be fixed for now...

It seems like the Pack & Go function doesn't updates the references for the slot part quite right as Rename part (within SolidWorks) does.
