hi, can anyone explain me how to define a translational motor on motion study ?

I have this mechanism and i want to actuate it by putting translational motor. 

But the problem is is never fully understand what i'm doing when i'm defining them because half of the time they are not doing what i expected them to do. going the wrong side, not moving, being slower than asked, ...
