API: Using PropertyManager pages to select model elements and store them as attributes (VB.NET add-in)

This SolidWorks World 2006 PowerPoint presentation shows how to use PropertyManager pages to select model elements and store them as attributes.

 

  1. Unpack the archive in a convenient location.
  2. Open in Powerpoint unpack_dir\API Programming Case Study - Using Property Manager.ppt.
  3. Watch the entire slide show before proceeding.
  4. Open in Visual Studio 2005 unpack_dir\Demos\SwwDemo1\SwwDemo1\SwwDemo1.vbproj.
  5. Set Project > SwwDemo1 Properties > Debug > Start external program to install_dir\sldworks.exe.
  6. Modify the project references to point to your SolidWorks install_dir\api\redist interop assemblies.
  7. Compile and run the project.
  8. Activate Tools > Add-ins > SwwDemo1.
  9. Click F5 to continue past breakpoints in the add-in code.
  10. In SolidWorks, select SwwDemo1 > Create Cube.
  11. Click F5 to continue past breakpoints in the add-in code.
  12. In SolidWorks, select SwwDemo1 > Select Entities.
  13. Click F5 to continue past breakpoints in the add-in code.
  14. On the PropertyManager page, select a face, an edge, and a vertex.
  15. Click the green check mark to accept the selections.
  16. Click F5 to continue past breakpoints in the add-in code.
  17. The FeatureManager design tree displays three new attributes.
