Why does the installation of SOLIDWORKS 2014 generate a message that it is not supported on Windows® XP, when the installation is being installed on a PC that is running Windows® 7 X64?
Usually when the Installation Manager (IM) is reporting the incorrect operating system is in use it means that the SOLIDWORKS Installation Manager (IM) is running in compatibility mode.
Please try the following:
- Right click on “sldim.exe” and select properties then select -> Compatibility; See if it is set to run as XP
- Unselect this option if it has been set and then re-run the installation.
Note: If running the installation from the “setup.exe” try running the installation from the “sldim.exe” found in the folder named “sldim”.
