I have one assembly that will not show correct configuration of pipe. Every time I open it I have to EDIT route in order to fix it.

If I work in the assembly with routes in light weight. It will do the same. Pipe will not be shown properly. It could be short. Just the way it is in my screen shot. Or it will go through the fittings and flanges. Which is not pretty to show to customer.

Anyone has explanation or experience how to deal with it?

In the oil industry we use a lot of API 5000 and API 10000 components. I was wondering if anybody had access to a library of API 5000 components? I have not used routing but I was asked to look into it before we delve into it.

Thank you so much.

John

I created a flexible tubing library. Then used it to plumb a pneumatic assembly, I chose: flexible, multi-body part, for the routing-assembly. When I create the drawing, I get a nice BOM with: item numbers, part numbers and tube lengths, for each section of tube. But when I Auto-balloon the drawing I only get one balloon with a * in it. All of the rest of the assembly parts get numbered correctly. Any thoughts on why each tubing segment didn't get ballooned and numbered?

SW2008 x64 SP4.0
WinXP x64

Thanks, Sam

I have a solidworks installation without routing installed (sw prof).

A routing assembly is a component of an assembly. Routing files were created with a file based on tube-ss, but modified and renamed. It does not need the routing file to show the route tubes, but it is looking for it. There is also a renamed conduit file it is looking for. The files are not in the design library any more - new install.

It is happening on some machines, but not others. With load read only set or not set.

Any ideas?

Doug

So I am trying to create some harness drawings from large assemblies that I have imported but SWx places the connectors, wire lines and connector designators on top of each other. The connectors are oversized and do not seem to follow the sheet scaling (after watching SolidProfessor it seems that is normal --> really!?). Ill stop explaining, just look at the picture attached.

I am not sure how to work with this because I do not know which dimensions go with which segment. Oh, and the segments do not stay connected when I try to move the harness onto the center of the sheet. It seems so easy when you watch the demos.

I have a problem and am not a "gun" user of SW
I have created a route and i don't want to finish with a flange i want it to end in an open pipe then i want to add a ball valve to that pipe.
in SW 2007 i was able to do this i presume through different sttings i have recentlt upgraded to 2008 and now i cannot do this for instance i used to insert a valve then i would select edge of route ( it wouldn't allow the face ever) and mate the valve concentric then choose the same edge and an edge on the valve mating it coincedent this worked fine now i can't do it as i said i am not a pro it is probably something really stupid! please help.

I have noticed a problem when cnstructing pipe runs, I say sometimes because this does not happen every time and it it quite baffling.

I will start a pipe run by right clicking on a flange connectin point and selecting start run" I will draw a 3D sketch which is fully defined and the route can be seen forming along the sketch as it is drawn, putting in all of the bends, etc. Upon exit of the sketch and saving the route you can see that the pipe run has been constructed from extrudes and revolves.

In other circumstances when creating the route in what seems like exactly the same way the route will be formed from straight runs of pipe and 90 deg elbows as seperate items within the route.

I have no idea why. Could anyone offer any suggestions please?

I've been investigating the best way to add dimensions to routing drawings.
I previously did this by creating a centreline on the pipe and then dimensioning off the centreline.

The next attempt was to import model annotations. I'm still trying to refine this process.

I'd be intereted to hear how other people do this and any hints or tricks.

Are clips directional? I have many virtual clips I am trying to route through. Every so often when I try to route through one it will reverse the direction and loop back to the first connection point. What gives?

The weird part - I have other routes going through these same virtual clips and they don't have this direction problem.
