Hi,

I went to look for the "Design Checker" but was unable to find it in Solidworks anywhere. Is this included in all 2008 versions, or is it a seprately purchased add-in, or???

I am currently running 2008 Office SP3.0. Someone here thought it was included in all 2008 versions, but as I said, I can't find it anywhere. References in other posts indicate it is activated in "Tools/Add-ins", but I don't see it listed there.

Thanks!

Over-ridden dimensions have been a big problem for us in the
past. Seeing this option in the Design Checker would appear to
solve our problem. It detects if the 'override value' box in the
'Primary Value' option has been ticked, and a new value entered in
the 'Override value' text box.

However, by far the simplest way of over-riding a dimension is
simply to overwrite the 'Dimension Text' box. (See attached
picture). Design Checker doesn't appear to notice this. Therefore a
drawing could be full of overridden dimensions and the Design
Checker would let the drawing pass the check.

Am I missing something, or is Design Checker worse than useless
at detecting false dimensions?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi All,

First, I couldn't find a category for problems using SW Utilities, so that's why I'm posting here.
My problem is when using the compare geometry I get a fault saying "xxxx.sldprt failed SolidWorks check. Compare geometry may fail or show incorrect results. Do you wish to continue checking the second document?"

The part that fails is purely modelled in SW, and nothing fancy. Anyone know what is wrong?

Thanks,
Flemming

Can I print out the Interference
calculations and show them to my checker for verification of no

Also...is there a way to check the parts of an assembly for
interference if you want to take into account the tolerance of the
parts itself? Say the part is .500" wide - plus or minus .010.
Can I use that information to check if the part fits in an
assembly? Or do I have to change the part to the minimum and
maximum width it fits or not?

I originally posted this on the SW Explorer Group, now I’m thinking this should be a function of the Design Checker. Any thoughts?

"Hello-

I would like the ability to Display and Report which Configurations of Assemblies and Parts are used in Drawings and Assemblies.

For example: An Assembly has 19 Configurations. It's Drawing has 4 sheets; the 4 sheets each have 4 views for a total of 16 views. I would like to Display and Report the Assembly file Name and Configuration Used for each of the 16 Drawing Views.

If anyone else would like this function, please submit an Enhancement Request like this one.

Best Regards,
Devon T.
Here is an SPR that ou VAR found please read through and let me know if this fixes the problem:

284097 SolidWorks Design Checker can not be installed via silent installation from admin image. Implemented With the implementation of SPR 284097 (SolidWorks Design Checker can not be installed via silent installation from admin image.) in service pack 4 of SolidWorks 2006, existing 2006 updating to sp 4 will not see the design checker addin right away. Below are three methods by which existing clients can can obtain the design checker addin for a client installed from an admin image which experienced this issue. 1) Modifying the install by going to start, control panel, add/remove programs, highlighting change and choosing modify making sure SolidWorks Office Premium or SolidWorks Office Professional is installed should install the appropriate files for design checker. 2) Another method is to copy the c:\<admin image location>\program files\SolidWorks\dsgnchk folder after the clients have been service packed to sp4 or higher and pasting the folder in C:\Program Files\<SW install dir> on the client machine. Next step would be start SolidWorks, go to file, open, choose Add-Ins as the file type and then browse to the C:\Program Files\<SW install dir>\dsgnchk folder and open Dsgnchku.dll. This will load the design checker and add it to the addins list. 3) The third method is to uninstall the client and reinstall from the image once the admin image has been updated to sp4 or beyond.
