Ok, I have a 4" diameter rubber ball in free space 2 inches above a .5 inch thick steel plate. I apply gravity and drop the ball. Everything I've tried setting all frame rates to max, 3-d contact resolution to max etc. and still the ball passes right through the plate.

I've left the properties as acrylic and/or chaged them to rubber and steel. THe only way I can make the 3-d contact work is Physical simulation. What I really want to is have the ball bounce as it should!

Any suggestions?

I have created a "walk through" of a library that contains several wall pictures created with sketch pictures (.bmp images). I'm using Office Premium 2007 SP3.0.

Play-back of the animation is fine, but the recorded .avi results in the pictures changing or "flashing" to different images used in other areas of the overall drawing, not just the library tour. In fact, some of the images flash to texture patterns used throughout the assembly.

Im working on a multi level assembly and made some adjustments to the timebar in one of the sub assemblies.

These changes play fine while i am in the sub assy. When i try to play the animation for the top level assy i cant seem to get the sub assy changes to update (ie. it is still playing the previous sub assy animation).

Hello,

This is probably more than a vent than a question, but is anyone else having issues with the animator? I find that it's almost unusable for the following reasons:

1) Constantly updating keypoints seemingly independant of my actions - ususally "updating" them to postions I don't want.
2) Unpredicatable behavior of limit angle/distance mates - constantly flipping alignment unbidden.
3)Slow overall performance.
4)Saving assembly at a point when you're happy with the assembly, only to have it update and blow it all to hell.

Is anyone using anything different to get their animations done?

Thanks,

SolidWorks is currently looking for customer opinions on the future of simulation and has compiled a short survey based on interviews that were conducted over the past few months. This is a high visibility project and a great chance to help provide direction on this important aspect of SolidWorks and product development.
Hi,

this is a assembly in which i want to create animation. actually this is a training file of solid works.

While in cosmos motion, i play it it works perfectly. but when i create a new animation just like the previous one using the same function it did not work.

Also when i calculate the assembly(1st one) it doesnot act like the previous motion. something is wrong there. i dont find the reason. can any one please explain? and how to animate it...

i am attaching the assembly file with it's motion manager.

I'm using 2007 animator for a walk through and would like to slow and/or pause at certain points in the timeline to allow more time for the narrator to talk longer about the features of interest. Can this be done after the initial (constant timeline rate) has been established?
Bill

I have a part mated to a spline, in some places the spline is straight then the spline will make a 90deg turn. Originally I was moving the part by changing a distance mate at different time during the animation but I am not sure that will work for pushing the part around a corner.

What will be the best way to do this? The spline makes several 90deg turns and the part will eventually end up moving back in the same direction it came from.

Would it be better to pick a time on the timeline then just move the part to the location manually?

Any other suggesstions?

Sam
