Hi, I was wondering if anyone could answer a question. I was going to get signed up
for a seminar to start learning Solidworks with the Personal Edition. I know it says it is good for 90 days with option for renewal. Could someone tell me if the renewal has a price and if so what is it. The reason I ask is because I was going to start taking some classes in the fall and I was going to purchase the Student Version but I thought
the personal edition would be a great starter.

I have made a cylindrical short tube part and have cut a hole using hole wizard and a point which I sketched on the surface - the hole is a small angle, o.82 degrees, below the horizontal and SW will not recognize it for dimsioning (neither size nor position). I understand that SW wants to see a true view of the hole but I cannot get SW to create an auxillary view looking down the axis of the hole. How does one do this?

Does anyone know the going salary for LA? I do some Moonlighting
and one of my customers is bitching about price. He says he has
friend at a company in LA and they only pay $22 to do advance 3D
SolidWorks designs. Something like 5,000 designs in 3 years of
experience. It is a company call Sam Pievac, if anyone knows the
designers there. It is not apples to apples design work (because he
is doing something totally different than I am doing on the side
job). But I still think he is full of it saying they only pay
someone with that much experience in LA $22. Hell I know of users
in Po-dunk TN and KY that make that much an hour...

symmetrical airfoil sketching

Hello,
I have, in the past with autocad2000 , sketched Wing
Ribs for a remote control Biplane ( to the best of
my sketching skills at the time), using arcs.

Question is:
Is there a more correct use of geometry technique available for
sketching an airfoil symmetrically?

Using a spline, seems to be too much work to get the more
correct result.
(at least for the leading edge)

Any suggestions?

I'm trying to shell out a geometry, which happens to have a minimum
radius of curvature problem. the thing is, i don't really need the
area with the minimum radius shelled out..
the geometry looks like this:
http://people.clarkson.edu/~johnsoad/lb.jpg

where, i want the main body of the craft shelled out, but not the
vertical fins... i tried doing this by chopping off the fins, and
shelling it, it worked well, but then i don't have the fins.. I'd
rather not make it an assembly, because we're going to be building
it in the stereolith machine, and it doesn't like mated parts.
So, is there a way to shell within a certain region?

Hi all,

I have a lot of rectangular boxes attached to the inner circumference of the cylider. And, I am interested to get the x,y,z coordinates of each rectangular box. For example, for a rectangular box designed in solidworks, I would like to have 8 sets of coordinates (xyz). I would be thankful to you if you could kindly let me know, if it is possible to acheive in solidworks, if yes then how?
